The Grade 9.1 geographers planned and delivered a major earthquake re-enactment based on real-life events (1985 Mexico City, 2004 Indian Ocean, 2011 Japan, 2023 Turkey) using a variety of creative approaches. They portrayed news teams reporting from the studio and live ‘on the scene,’ incorporating interviews, props, models, rescues, videos, and dramatic imagery to illustrate the causes, effects, and responses

Recently, our Grade 3 and 4 students had an unforgettable adventure in Peisey-Nancroix! They took part in avalanche and survival training, learning how to build fires and make igloos. A snowshoe trek led them on a search for animal tracks, and of course, there was an epic snowball fight! Beyond the fun, the trip was a great chance to develop

In their Design and Technology class, Grade 8 students shared their skills and experience in 3D modeling and wood construction with Grade 5. They gave tips on working with balsa wood and making a neat, well-crafted model. They also explained key project steps—research, planning, and building—and demonstrated important techniques like handling delicate materials, making precise cuts, and assembling pieces securely.

On Saturday 19th of January the ISL Robotics Teams participated in the Auvergne-Rhône Alpes regional qualification tournament for Robotique FIRST France. We finished 3rd out of 18 teams and qualified for the French national championship which will take place on 22nd March.  Well done to all students concerned and thank you to Mr O’Reilly and Dr Feeney for organizing this

In their English lessons, the Grade 8 students have been studying Steinbeck’s novel, Of Mice and Men. The descriptions of the settings are rich in detail. Not only do these descriptions create the atmosphere of the place, but they also reveal themes of the novel.  Students made drawings of the settings and labeled key features with quotes. On Tuesday 21st January, the Grade 5 students walked to the Espace Culturel in Sainte-Foy to watch a concert (Classe à Horaires Aménagés Musique, CHAM) performed by middle school students from College Charcot. The program included a diverse range of music, from Steve Reich’s ‘Clapping music’ to Beyonce’s ‘Halo’, with vocal and instrumental pieces in both English and French. Students
