On Tuesday 21st January, the Grade 5 students walked to the Espace Culturel in Sainte-Foy to watch a concert (Classe à Horaires Aménagés Musique, CHAM) performed by middle school students from College Charcot. The ISL Model United Nations (MUN) Club had a busy November. New members of the club from Grades 9-11 traveled to Clermont-Ferrand to participate in CLERMUN, a 4 day conference focused on Climate Justice. As part of their French studies, Grades 7 and 8 went to Clermont-Ferrand to visit the international exhibition “Rendez-vous du carnet de voyage”. This yearly event hosts “carnettistes”, writers and illustrators who present sketchbooks, art and travel journals documenting their own travels. The students had the opportunity to discover their work, interview the artists, watch documentaries and hopefully get inspiration

Grade 11 Geography/History students travelled to Spain for the trip which also included CAS activities, organized by Mr. Dunn and accompanied by Mrs. Mannion. The group flew to Madrid and visited Madrid from the Bernabeu stadium to the historic centre. From 15th – 17th of May the Grade 6-8 students took part in the annual middle school camp. The ISL choir, Vocal Colours, opened the 2024 International Lyon Model United Nations (ILYMUN) ceremony on Thursday 1st February, presenting the freedom song ‘Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody’ which became an anthem during the American civil rights era, and the upbeat song ‘Freedom’, by Pharrell Williams, launching this year’s theme of Rights and Freedoms. Thank you to Ms. Vasset and Mme. Grades 3 and 4 recently had a fantastic visit to ÉbulliScience in Vaux-en-Velin, where they participated in a workshop on levers, linked to their current Unit of Inquiry titled “How the World Works”, which is about simple machines.  Students were invited to follow the procedures for scientific investigation by observing, hypothesising and then trying out various experiments!
