Tuesday 3rd June marked the annual ISL music concert at Salle Ellipse in Sainte-Foy. Over 120 students participated, from Grade 1 to Grade 11, showcasing a wide variety of film music repertoire, ensemble formations, and instruments. This event was a wonderful opportunity for students, staff, and families to come together as a school community and celebrate the learning and progress

This year, the Grade 7–8 French B+ class worked on a movie project with an actor from the theatre company “La Clinquaille” from Vienne. We created a movie script inspired by pictures created by disabled adults from the ADAPEI in Ste Foy and some texts written by elderly pensioners from the résidence Beau Soleil, also in Ste Foy. The primary school has been celebrating the start of summer with La Fête de la Musique, an event that has been rocking France since 1982! The school day began with the drumming circle waking up the neighbours with a lively selection of beats. On Tuesday 21st January, the Grade 5 students walked to the Espace Culturel in Sainte-Foy to watch a concert (Classe à Horaires Aménagés Musique, CHAM) performed by middle school students from College Charcot. The program included a diverse range of music, from Steve Reich’s ‘Clapping music’ to Beyonce’s ‘Halo’, with vocal and instrumental pieces in both English and French. Students

Although it is not considered very ‘authentic performance practice’, Grade 8 students were being true inquirers when they discovered they could play their recorders quite successfully by exhaling air through their noses!
