In the recent Summer Sports Competition, the secondary students were fully engaged and fought hard for their Colour Teams. The Grade 6, 7 and 8 students had voted to play in mixed-grade teams and appreciated the challenge of playing against younger and older students. On Tuesday 4th June, ISL held its annual music concert at the Salle L’Ellipse in Sainte-Foy. With over 120 students involved, spanning from Senior Kindergarten to Grade 8 students, it showcased a variety of musical styles, instruments, languages and types of ensembles. On Saturday, the PTA organised our annual Summer Fête. This year we not only had a giant bouncy castle, but a burger and fries truck too! Students and families of all ages attended, enjoying the friendly atmosphere as well as all the games and activities that the PTA put on for us all. The Grade 5 students recently had the opportunity to spend a day following the Grade 6 schedule in order to better prepare them for the transition from Grade 5 to Grade 6 next year. They experienced what it was like to move from class to class on their own, and got to meet many of the teachers they are likely

The Grade 3s, 4s and 5s created stop-motion videos to show our school’s vision, “Building our Best Selves” as part of our recent Vision Day activities. When we learned in September that our usual venue was not available, ISL’s Model United Nations (MUN) club members were determined that nothing would stop their work to prepare, organize and run our annual International Lyon Model United Nations (ILYMUN) conference, which is co-hosted with the Cité Scolaire Internationale de Lyon (CSI). The ISL Robotics teams took part in the French DEFI Robotics tournament last weekend. They competed against 58 other schools from France and around Europe. Well done to all of the team for their hard work over the last few months.

The champion of this year’s quiz is again,  Filip, from Grade 9.  The Runner-up was again, Lewis, also from Grade 9. The quiz took place at lunchtimes in March, designed and run by Mr. Dunn in the Geography department. Quiz rounds included Geography in the news, matching amazing worldwide homes to their countries, cities in different countries, countries and capital

Parents and teachers recently had the opportunity to share a slice of the traditional ‘Galette des Rois’ to celebrate Epiphany. Each year, the galette des rois – meaning ‘cake of the kings’, is made by bakers and pâtissiers across the country to mark this special occasion. Inside each of the galettes is a ‘fève’ or a trinket.
