Grade 5 recently participated in the Take Charge: Global Battery Experiment, which is organized by the Royal Society of Chemistry. The students learned about how batteries work, then had a go at making their own battery cells by using copper coins, vinegar and aluminium foil. They were able to check the voltage of their batteries using voltmeters, and every group succeeded in lighting up an LED by combining several battery cells.
