In our current Unit of Inquiry (How We Express Ourselves), the Junior Kindergarten (Kangaroo) class are talking about arts, and one of the artists they have learned about was Piet Mondrian. During carpet time, we covered primary colours (red, yellow, and blue) and shapes, connected to his art pieces. Inspired by Mondrian’s “Composition A” painting, the students shared their impressions and worked on creating their own beautiful pieces of artwork using pastel crayons.
