For our unit of inquiry about architecture, Grade 5 recently visited the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval. We learned about Ferdinand Cheval and his naïve art construction project and analyzed some of the architectural elements that this amateur architect included in his design.
Following the visit, G5K used clay to create individual pieces that they then assembled to create their own Ideal Palace. Look closely at the photos. Can you see the Earth, a high-heeled shoe and facteur Ferdinand Cheval? What else do you notice?
