Last week Grade 5 participated in the Take Charge: Global Battery Experiment, which was organized by the Royal Society of Chemistry. The students learned about batteries before making battery cells using copper coins, vinegar and aluminium foil. They then combined their cells and used voltmeters to measure the total voltage produced by their batteries. Some students were able to produce sufficient voltage to power an LED bulb. It was a very interesting and rewarding experience for all. A big thank you to Dr. Feeney for organizing and for helping to make it the success that it was!
